Yhe National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) has appointed Dr Emma Salt as a new Allied Health Professional Consultant to further bolster its clinical team.
In her new role, Dr Salt will focus on both clinical aspects and education and research. On the clinical side, she will be dedicated to ensuring patient care is optimised, bringing her vast experience to the role. She will also work with the NRC’s Clinical and Academic Partnership (NCAP) to ensure the NRC is leading the way in terms of the rehabilitation speciality, both in the UK and abroad.
Dr Salt joins Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust – the healthcare provider for the NRC – following nearly ten years as a Consultant Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
Prior to that, Dr Salt completed a PhD in musculoskeletal physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham and two post-doctoral positions at Keele University, the latter at which she has been rewarded as an Honorary Researcher. She is also on the Musculoskeletal Research Advisory Group for national charity Versus Arthritis.
Emma Salt, Consultant Allied Health Professional at the NRC, said:
“When I first saw the designs for the NRC, I thought ‘this is going to be a rehabilitation utopia’. I was instantly sold to the vision and the importance of having a specialist NHS rehabilitation facility in the UK – it’s really going to be transformational for patient care and an opportunity that cannot be missed. The NRC team has been so welcoming since I joined the programme this summer and I can’t wait to see the facility being built.”
Sandy Walsh, NRC Operations Director, said:
“Dr Salt is an excellent addition to the team. She brings such valuable experience from her previous roles in the NHS, but also importantly in research and education with an excellent CV and a host of academic qualifications. We’re continuing to build out our teams and will be advertising new opportunities shortly, so keep an eye on our recruitment activity if you’re interested in working at the NRC.”
New posts at the NRC are being recruited for over the coming months. All new roles will be posted on the NRC website and LinkedIn page.
The NRC is currently awaiting final approval from government through the New Hospitals Programme. In line with the NRC’s submitted Full Business Case, Nottingham University Hospitals (the NHS programme sponsor) and partners including the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University are gearing up across the NRC’s three integrated core functions: clinical rehabilitation; research and innovation; and training and education.
The new 70-bed centre is targeted to complete by end of 2024.
