The front entrance of the NRC

An assessment will be completed by all appropriate clinicians within 48 hours of your arrival. This will allow a comprehensive and bespoke rehabilitation programme to be devised for you.

All patients will be offered an intensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation program to suit their needs and tolerance. Rehab programmes will be delivered from Monday – Saturday, with schedules provided in advance. These are subject to change but may help visitors to plan their visits.

Your treatment may involve any number of staff who are part of the team, working on your movement, thinking, communicating and carrying out activities linked to your goals. The length of your stay at the NRC will depend upon your specific needs and goals.

Goal setting and review

Within the first fortnight, you will attend a ‘Goal-Setting Meeting’ with the professionals involved in your treatment. This is where we will agree your initial rehabilitation goals, which are tailored to your specific needs, and we will explain your treatment plan to help you achieve these goals.

You are encouraged to invite two key family or friends to these meetings to support you. At this meeting, your expected discharge date will be set and the team will work with you and your family/friends to start planning for discharge as soon as possible to enable a smooth transition back into the community.

Your progress and these goals will be reviewed and updated at regular intervals during your stay in ‘Goal Review Meetings’. The frequency of these will vary for each patient.
