The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is a 70-bed regional specialist rehabilitation unit serving the East Midlands. It is the first NHS facility of its kind, and is run and staffed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The NRC is also home to the national training and education centre, and the national research and innovation hub, for rehabilitation in England. The centre aims to transform rehabilitation across the country.

The NRC is located between Nottingham and Loughborough in the East Midlands. It is situated on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate (SHRE), a 350-acre parkland estate which it shares with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) approximately 400m away.
All patients will be supported to attend meal times in the main dining area on the ground floor where possible.
Visitors are most welcome and encouraged to support you through your stay and be involved in your rehabilitation. Please note visiting is recommended to two people per patient at any one time.
The NRC follows a structured daily routine that includes therapy sessions, groups, medical check-ups, medication administration, meals and appropriate rest periods.
The NRC building has 3 floors, with the ground floor split into 5 pavilions. To help with wayfinding, each zone within the building is associated with a specific colour theme.
These colours appear on walls and signage throughout the building, helping visitors and staff find their way more easily
An assessment will be completed by all appropriate clinicians within 48 hours of your arrival. This will allow a comprehensive and bespoke rehabilitation programme to be devised for you.
Actively participate in your rehabilitation programme by attending therapy sessions, following instructions from the team and engaging in therapeutic activities.
Your commitment and effort play a crucial role in your progress.
We start discharge planning very early in your stay to enable us to identify how we can support you when you leave.
A ‘Discharge Planning Meeting’ (DPM) will be held with you and all relevant parties to summarise your progress during your rehabilitation at the NRC and to co-ordinate onward plans following discharge.

The NRC is a clinical research facility, which means that all patients are encouraged to participate in research activities during their stay.
The purpose of this is to further develop the specialism of rehabilitation for future patients, and to ensure that evidence- based practice is applied and promoted from this national centre of excellence.
The NRC has a multi-faith room which is accessible to all.
Chaplaincy or other religious representatives can also be accessed via NUH.
