Rushcliffe MP James Naish visited the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) recently to meet some of the first patients receiving treatment at the new facility and see staff working in their new environment.
During the visit, Mr Naish toured the state-of-the-art centre and met members of the multidisciplinary team delivering rehabilitation services, as well as patients who have recently begun their recovery journeys at the NRC. The visit provided an opportunity to see first-hand how the centre is supporting patients while demonstrating its innovative approach to rehabilitation.
Mr Naish said: "It was great to be able to finally meet patients being treated in the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), and to see staff working in their new environment. It is a truly state-of-the-art building which Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust should be very proud of, and Rushcliffe residents should be proud of it too.
"The concept of an NRC was conceived over 16 years ago, and it’s frustrating that it’s taken so long for this vision to be realised – but testament to the strength of the vision that it has finally happened, despite many changes of government and significant changes in the world around us in that time.
"I am looking forward to seeing the business case being demonstrated over the next two years, and am committed to pushing the Department for Health and Social Care to make sure this isn’t a one-off project but that best practice rehabilitation centres are rolled out near major trauma centres across the UK, as was always envisaged once the NRC was up and running."
