A new partnership between the country’s first National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) and wellbeing company Movementum Natural Health Systems aims to establish post-rehabilitation support programmes for patients leaving the NRC.
The NRC is the first of its kind – a 70-bed, state-of-the-art specialist rehabilitation centre for NHS patients who have experienced a life-changing illness or injury, run and staffed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).
Movementum Natural Health Systems is a wellbeing company which works to integrate the expertise of the sports science and health and fitness industries, empowering them to play a crucial role in patient recovery and preventative health.

The country’s first NHS National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), run and staffed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, now hopes to open in Spring 2026 as work continues on the building’s water system.
Building contractors, Integrated Health Projects (IHP), are still in the process of completing the work on the building’s water system which has still not yet met the rigorous safety and quality standards for the patients who will be cared for at the cutting-edge centre.
In the meantime, patients continue to be treated at Linden Lodge, our specialist rehabilitation unit based at Nottingham City Hospital, and by the same highly-skilled staff who will be transferring over to the NRC once the building is ready.

Sonia Meakin, from Spondon, and her husband, Mark, were driving on the M1 motorway to meet friends for dinner when Mark suffered a heart attack and suddenly passed out at the wheel.
From the passenger seat, Sonia managed to steer the car off the M1 carriageway and down the next slip road but couldn’t stop as Mark’s foot was on the accelerator and they crashed.
